Product Overview | Why Go Static with Cinemek's G35?

A lot of you familiar with the recently released G35 Static 35mm Adapter from Cinemek. The G35 is designed for larger format prosumer cameras. I want to explain the benefits of a static adapter and how the G35 overcomes the common pitfalls of most adapters. Below is a list of these pitfalls and how the G35 overcomes them.

Moving Parts
The benefits of not having moving or electrical parts is simple, it makes the unit less likely to fail.

Dirty and Fragile Ground Glass

Most ground glass in static adapters are vulnerable to dust and dirt, and in most cases the ground glass can be damaged easily if cleaned improperly. The G35's ground glass is assembled in a desiccated class 1000 clean room where it is sealed air tight to prevent dirt, dust, and damage. See the video below for a coll demonstration on the seal of the G35...

Visible Ground Glass Grain

Visible grain is another common pitfall of static adapters. This is a result of the grain that causes the diffusion being too large. The G35's ground glass is ultra-high resolution fine grain. Click here

Heavy Adapter

The more you add to an adapter like battery packs, motors, larger housing, etc,,,all adds to the weight of the adapter. The G35 weighs in at 1.8 lbs, which is rather light for an adapter designed for larger scale cameras.

Light Loss
All adapters experience light loss, the G35's light loss of only 1.4 stops is significantly less than that of most adapters.
and watch the demo videos to judge for yourself.

We ordered a G35 and ran some tests. We were losing about 4 stops on it and had some focus issues. We returned it for repair or exchange and did not get a unit back. Six months later, many many emails and phonecalls we are still waiting. It is perhaps a good product, but we never had the opportunity to verify this.

Their customer service is exceedingly poor - the worst in fact. It not at all the kind of support ans service you would want if you were considering this unit for any professional application.
